Forex proxy for MT4 and MT5
The short answer
A forex proxy routes MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 through your broker’s financial hub. When volatile news spikes drop packets, our server recovers lost data locally in that city. Your price feed keeps updating and orders reach your broker without stalling.
A forex proxy recovers lost data inside your broker’s city
During the London and New York overlap, tick volume spikes. When you click Buy, your order crosses the public internet as small packets.
If a packet drops on a standard connection, your terminal waits. Price feeds freeze and your next trade sits queued behind the lost piece.
A forex proxy places our server in your broker’s hub. Your platform connects to us, and our server opens a separate local connection to your broker’s trade server.
When a packet drops near your broker, our server recovers it inside that city. Trading ports take priority when traffic surges, and broker addresses stay warm in memory.
MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) configure the proxy under Tools → Options → Server. Only your trading platform uses Traders Proxy, leaving your browsing on your normal internet.
Each platform maker decides which background connections follow the proxy setting.
The table compares a standard connection with Traders Proxy.
| What happens | Direct | With Traders Proxy |
|---|---|---|
| Connection to your broker | One connection across the full distance | Two connections, yours to us and ours to your broker |
| Data lost near your broker | Recovered from your computer across the full distance | Recovered inside your broker’s city by our server |
| Data lost near you | Recovered from your computer all the way to your broker | Recovered between your computer and our server |
Standard transmission rules wait before resending lost data, and everything behind it waits too. That delay depends on round trip distance and doubles on repeat loss (the internet standard).
One lost packet can stall price updates and execution during fast market moves.
Note. The limit
This helps on the connection between our server and your broker. Packets lost between your desk and our server are recovered on that first leg.
Your ping, spreads and broker rules stay the same
Understand these limits before paying, so you judge our service on what we change.
- Your ping. Ping reflects physical distance between your desk and the server. We do not promise lower ping. Judge us on terminal stability, not a ping number.
- Your local internet. The connection from your machine to our server stays on your provider. If you trade on Wi-Fi, an ethernet cable is the best free upgrade.
- Broker pricing and fills. Your broker sets spreads and fills. Ask your broker if you see wide spreads during news releases.
- Broker rules. If your broker prohibits proxies, do not use one.
- Trading with your computer off. If an automated strategy must run around the clock while your machine is powered down, use a VPS.
Steady routing keeps your broker connection stable
Home internet connections often cycle through dynamic addresses. Sudden address shifts during active trading can trigger broker security flags or force session logouts.
Our server presents one steady address to your broker throughout your trading week. Your connection stays anchored while you manage open positions.
Find your broker city and enter four values
Find your broker city
- 01
Read the Server field
Open your platform login window. The Server field lists your broker trade server name.
The name alone does not reveal the physical city.
- 02
Ask your broker support
Ask which city hosts that trade server. Our broker server lookup guide explains the process step by step.
- 03
Pick that city in your dashboard
Choose the city in your dashboard. You can switch cities at any time if you change brokers.
Our locations page lists every city where our servers operate. If your broker city is unlisted, select the closest available location.
Copy the four values from your dashboard and paste them into your platform proxy settings. Press Test and then click OK to verify the connection.
- Menu path
- Tools → Options → ServerSource, MetaQuotes, MT5 help
- Proxy type
SOCKS5orHTTP, not SOCKS4- After entering values
- Press Test, then OKSource, MetaQuotes, MT4 help
Time your chart updates with and without the proxy
Measure how long your platform takes to connect and stream quotes, with the proxy off and then on. Test during an active session and compare the numbers.
If performance is identical both ways, you do not need us. You can cancel renewal in your dashboard at any time and retain access until your billing period ends.
If your platform can’t connect through us and support can’t fix it, we refund your first payment. That applies within 7 days on a monthly plan, or 14 days on a yearly plan. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Read our refund policy for full details.
A VPS moves your platform while Traders Proxy moves your connection
The table compares the everyday practical differences. Choose the solution matching your trading workflow.
| Feature | Traders Proxy | A VPS |
|---|---|---|
| Where you trade | On your own screen | Inside a remote desktop window |
| Runs when computer is off | No | Yes |
| Requires second operating system | No | Yes |
When automated algorithms must run unattended overnight, a VPS fits that purpose. For manual trading on your own workstation, a proxy is the simpler setup.

Common questions about forex proxies
Frequently asked questions
Will a forex proxy lower my ping?
We do not promise lower ping. Physical distance sets the floor for latency. What our server changes is local recovery of lost packets inside your broker city.
Does a forex proxy stabilise tick feeds?
Our server maintains a direct local link to your broker trade server. By resolving dropped packets locally and keeping routing tables warm, it helps prevent chart freezes.
Is a forex proxy different from a VPN?
A proxy routes only your trading terminal, leaving other applications untouched. A VPN routes all traffic from your device.
Do different currency pairs need separate settings?
MetaTrader uses one single proxy setting for the entire terminal. Configuring it once covers EURUSD, GBPUSD and every other symbol on that account.
Will my broker allow a proxy connection?
Check your broker account terms. If your broker prohibits proxies, do not use one. Traders Proxy does not alter broker policy.
Do I get my own address?
Your broker sees one steady server address shared across active accounts. That address updates only if you switch cities or if hardware is replaced.

'Ping failed' and drops with disconnects every few minutes, re-login loops and dropped sessions
“Is the chart freezing, or is it the terminal? If it is the terminal, then it is likely a broken indicator.”
What our system reduces. If your device drops off, our server notices quickly and frees its place, so your platform can reconnect instead of hanging.
- Dead connections found and freedPrimary
- Straight back in after a dropPrimary
- Reconnect surges admitted in a steady streamSupporting
- Own separate connection to your brokerSupporting
Where it stops. We do not prevent internet drops or fix broker faults. After a disconnect, your platform logs in again, so always use broker-side stop-loss orders.
MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer
“that proxy setting is working on MT4, so the problem is from MT5 not proxy”
How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary
Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
cTrader behind an office, school or corporate network (the case the proxy setting was made for)
“I've tried, and it seems that only HTTP proxies can connect.”
What our system reduces. cTrader for Windows has a proxy setting and Traders Proxy supports it over HTTP.
- Built-in
HTTPproxy loginPrimary
Where it stops. cTrader for Windows supports an HTTP proxy login in Settings > Connection. Your local network must still allow the connection to our server.
Country and ISP level blocking of MetaQuotes services (Pakistan, specific networks)
“Pakistan is actively blocking, banning, or restricting access to numerous forex apps/websites, so what you are describing is not coming from MQL5.com but from your side.”
What our system reduces. If a network blocks your broker's address, your platform connects to our server instead.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
Where it stops. Works only if your network lets you reach our server and does not block proxy traffic.
