Connect cTrader through Traders Proxy.

This guide connects cTrader for Windows through our server. cTrader’s proxy form has a Protocol box but doesn’t say what to pick. We show the one we have confirmed. You install nothing.

01 · What changes

cTrader can use your plan too. We promise only that it connects.

On cTrader we promise one thing, that it connects through our server.

With the setting on, cTrader connects to our server instead of connecting straight out from your computer. So the plan you use for other platforms covers cTrader too.

Spotware says cTrader connects through its own servers, not straight to your broker. So we don’t make any lost-data or city-placement promise on cTrader.

Spotware doesn’t say which of cTrader’s own connections follow the setting, so we don’t say either.

Ping is the time data takes there and back. We don’t promise lower ping because distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.

If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Your broker’s rules still apply to you.

02 · Set it up

Set it up in cTrader.

  1. Pick a plan

Pay with Stripe and set your password, because your values are in your dashboard. Skip this if you already have a plan.

  2. Pick your broker’s city

In your dashboard, under Your broker’s city, press Change your broker’s city. Pick a city and press its Use button, such as Use London. Choose the city your broker’s server is in, if you know it. cTrader doesn’t show where that is, so ask your broker’s support. Your values never change when you do this.

  3. Copy your values

In Your values for your platform, open the cTrader tab. Use each value’s copy button, because one wrong character stops cTrader connecting. We never ask for your broker login.

  4. Open cTrader’s connection settings

Click Settings in the bottom-left corner of cTrader. Open Advanced, then Connection, and tick Use proxy to connect. Five boxes switch on. The setting is inside cTrader, so nothing else on your computer uses it.

    3. Connection
    4. Use proxy to connect
  5. Enter the values

In the Protocol box, pick the one your values panel shows. It is the only one we have confirmed with cTrader, so don’t pick another. Paste the server and the port into their own boxes, then Login and Password. These are your Traders Proxy details, not your cTrader ID.

  6. Click Apply and sign in

Click Apply, then sign in with your cTrader ID. Open a chart and check that prices move, so you know cTrader connects with the setting on.

That shows cTrader can connect with the setting on, and nothing more. Spotware doesn’t say if cTrader needs a restart, so if it won’t connect, close it and open it again.

03 · Does it help you?

Time it yourself, so you decide on your own numbers.

Time how long cTrader takes to sign in and show live prices, with the setting off and then on. Do it in a busy session and write both numbers down.

We make no promise about speed on cTrader, so your own numbers are the only test. If it takes the same time both ways, you don’t need us.

04 · Mac, phone and web

This guide covers cTrader for Windows only.

Spotware documents no proxy setting for cTrader on Mac, on phones or on the web. So on those, cTrader keeps its normal connection and doesn’t use your plan.

We have tested MT4 and MT5 on Android, not the cTrader app. iPhone is untested.

05 · If it won’t connect

If it won’t connect, check these in order.

  1. 01Untick Use proxy to connect, click Apply and check cTrader signs in without it. If it doesn’t, the cause isn’t this setting.
  2. 02The Protocol box matches the one in your values panel, because it is the only one we have confirmed.
  3. 03The server and the port sit in separate boxes. Paste each into its own box, with nothing added.
  4. 04The login and password are your Traders Proxy ones, not your cTrader ID or your broker’s. If cTrader still refuses, wait a little and try again.
  5. 05You’re within your plan’s device count, because an extra device is turned away. Your dashboard shows the devices connected now.
  6. 06Did you just change the server you connect to? Wait until your dashboard says it’s ready, usually about half a minute. Then paste the new Server value.
  7. 07Does cTrader keep signing you in again? Spotware’s help for its phone apps says cTrader does that when it judges its connection too weak. We found nothing on how a proxy affects that, so untick Use proxy to connect.

Still stuck? Ask support and say which step you reached.

Real cTrader proxy and connection problems traders post online.

Every quote below links to the forum thread or vendor guide where it appeared. Underneath each quote, see which parts of our system work together on it and where our server stops.

cTraderReduces one factor

cTrader drops and re-logs in on a loop (Disconnected, Slow connection or Connection failed)

“We kindly ask you to check your internet connections with your ISPs.”

What our system reduces. Traders Proxy gives your platform its own route to its servers, which can help when your provider's route is the weak stretch. It does not fix your own Wi-Fi or router.

  • Dead connections found and freedPrimary
  • Straight back in after a dropSupporting
  • Short send queuesSupporting
  • Built-in HTTP proxy loginPrimary

Where it stops. Helps only when your provider’s route is the weak stretch. It does not fix Wi-Fi, router drops or Spotware faults, and cTrader uses HTTP only.

cTraderReduces one factor

When a provider or country blocks the direct route to cTrader

“My current alternative solution is cTrader web with VPS proxy to connect to NewYork server, so far so good.”

What our system reduces. If your provider blocks the route to your platform's servers, you can send your platform through a Traders Proxy server instead. It works only if your provider lets you reach us.

  • Built-in HTTP proxy loginPrimary

Where it stops. Works only if your network lets you reach our server. cTrader on Windows uses an HTTP proxy setting and does not route the installer through it.

cTraderWhen not to use a proxy

cTrader picks a far or 'wrong' Spotware proxy and the trader cannot choose (Sydney-3, Netherlands, Jakarta-2, London-6 from Korea)

“The Connection settings allow configuring a proxy server. Select Use proxy to connect to enable the proxy connection settings.”

Why a proxy can backfire here. cTrader for Windows has a proxy setting and Traders Proxy supports it over HTTP. cTrader still chooses its own servers.

  • Built-in HTTP proxy loginBoundary

Where it stops. In cTrader on Windows, the Connection proxy setting routes your connection to Spotware’s cloud. Spotware still picks its own cloud node on the far side.

cTraderReduces one factor

cTrader behind an office, school or corporate network (the case the proxy setting was made for)

“Please be advised that the connection settings are to be set as follows: Server : Your local proxy server Name/IP Port : Port of your local proxy server Protocol: Supported proxy protocol”

What our system reduces. cTrader for Windows has a proxy setting and Traders Proxy supports it over HTTP.

  • Built-in HTTP proxy loginPrimary

Where it stops. cTrader for Windows supports an HTTP proxy login in Settings > Connection. Your local network must still allow the connection to our server.

cTraderNot a proxy problem

cTrader stuck on 'Reconnecting' after a release, outage or weekend maintenance

“This problem should have been resolved by now. Please restart your cTrader and in case you still experience problems, please send us some troubleshooting information quoting this thread.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy doesn't fix faults inside your platform or on its maker's servers. It only changes the route between your platform and ours.

Where it stops. Never mention 'Reconnecting' as a symptom we cure.

cTraderNot a proxy problem

cTrader Desktop says 'Connection error' while cTrader Web and the phone app log in fine

“I then downloaded ctrader from the ctrader website directly and it log in perfecly fine but the FTMO branded Ctrader Desktop Verson downloanded from the FTMO website is giving an error.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy doesn't repair login problems caused by Windows updates or an out-of-date platform. Update the platform first.

Where it stops. Do not sell the proxy as a fix for 'Desktop won't log in but Web works'.
