01 · What changes

When data is lost near your broker, your order waits on a short distance.

Our server in your broker’s city puts trading ports first, keeps broker addresses warm in memory and replaces lost pieces locally. So your order waits on a short local connection, not the whole way from your computer.

The setting lives inside MT5, so your other programs stay on your normal internet and your plan’s data goes on trading. MetaQuotes doesn’t say which of MT5’s own connections follow the setting, so we don’t say either.

Ping is the time data takes there and back. We don’t promise lower ping because distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.

If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Your broker’s rules still apply to you.

02 · Set it up

Set it up in MT5.

  1. Pick a plan

Pay with Stripe and set your password, because your values are in your dashboard. Skip this if you already have a plan.

  2. Pick your broker’s city

In your dashboard, under Your broker’s city, press Change your broker’s city. Pick the city and press its Use button, such as Use London. Our server in that city connects to your broker. Your four values never change when you do this.

  3. Copy your four values

In Your values for your platform, open the MT5 tab. Use each value’s copy button, because one wrong character makes the test fail. We never ask for your broker login.

  4. Open MT5’s proxy settings

Use the menu path below, tick Enable proxy server and press Proxy…. The setting is inside MT5, so nothing else on your computer uses it. Ctrl+O also opens Options. On a Mac or Linux, the menu is the same inside the MT5 that MetaQuotes’ installer sets up.

  5. Enter the values

The Server box takes the address and port together, with a colon between them, so paste the server value as it is. Pick the type from your values panel in the selector beside it, because each type has its own port. Then paste Login and Password.

The proxy window in MT5, showing the Server box with the type selector beside it, then Login and Password, with Test and OK.
  6. Press Test, then OK

Test tells you if a value is wrong, so you find out now and not in the middle of a trade. Press OK when it passes. Close and reopen MT5 only if it doesn’t reconnect, because MetaQuotes says changes take effect after OK.

Then look at Market Watch, where prices should tick. Your dashboard should show one device connected, which tells you MT5 reached our server.

03 · Does it help you?

Time it yourself, so you decide on your own numbers.

Time how long MT5 takes to connect and show live prices, without us and then with us. Write both numbers down.

Do it in a busy session, because that is when lost data makes your chart and orders wait. If it takes the same time both ways, you don’t need us.

04 · On your phone

On Android, a proxy app lets MT5 on your phone use our server too.

MetaQuotes documents no proxy setting in the MT5 phone app, and we found none. On Android, an app such as AdGuard can send chosen apps through a proxy. Choose only MT5, so your other apps keep your normal internet.

Count your phone as one of your plan’s devices, so check you have one to spare. iPhone is untested.

In AdGuard, add the proxy

  1. Settings
  2. Filtering
  3. Network
  4. Proxy

Then send only MT5 through it

  1. App management
  2. MT5
  3. Route traffic through AdGuard

05 · If it won’t connect

If it won’t connect, check these in order.

  1. 01The Server box holds the address, a colon, then the port, with no spaces, because MT5 has no separate port box.
  2. 02The type and the server match what your values panel lists, because each type has its own port. Copy them again from there.
  3. 03The login and password are your Traders Proxy ones, not your broker’s. If MT5 still refuses, wait a little and try again.
  4. 04You’re within your plan’s device count, because an extra device is turned away. Your dashboard shows the devices connected now.
  5. 05Did you just change network, such as hotel Wi-Fi to your phone’s hotspot? Our server closes the old connection quickly. On a one-device plan, wait a moment before you try again.
  6. 06Did you just change the server you connect to? Wait until your dashboard says it’s ready, usually about half a minute. Then paste the new Server value.
  7. 07A firewall or security program may block the connection. Test shows an error when it does.
  8. 08Your MT5 is a current build. MetaQuotes stopped older builds connecting to broker servers on 1 Dec 2024.

Stop-loss and take-profit orders sit on your broker’s server, so they stay in place if your connection drops. Trailing stops run inside MT5, so they only work while it is open and connected.

Still stuck? Ask support and say which step you reached.

Real MT5 proxy and connection problems traders post online.

Every quote below links to the forum thread or vendor guide where it appeared. Underneath each quote, see which parts of our system work together on it and where our server stops.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Solves

MetaQuotes blocks the trader's own home or ISP address with 'No connection' on every server

“Finally... We received confirmation from the service desk that the IP addresses are blocked due to suspicious activity. Unfortunately, we cannot unblock them.”

How our system handles it. If your own internet address is the problem, your platform connects to our server and your broker sees our server's address instead of yours.

  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary
  • One steady addressPrimary
  • City switchingSupporting

Where it stops. We cannot clear a block on your own address, and our server address can be blocked too. MQL5.community and Market calls may not use the platform proxy setting.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Solves

MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer

“that proxy setting is working on MT4, so the problem is from MT5 not proxy”

How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.

  • Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary

Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

MT5's own Proxy box overwrites, empties or refuses to save what you type

“I click on Enable proxy server -> Proxy ... -> Give my server , login . password , sock5 Then when i press test or ok , it doesnt go anywhere at all. The cursor goes back to the server field. I tried the same setting on my local computer , it is working fine.”

Why a proxy does not change this. We change nothing on your computer. The server, login and password go into your platform's own Proxy setting.

  • Only the app you set up is routedBoundary

Where it stops. We change nothing on your computer. If a MetaTrader 5 build fails to save its proxy dialog, we cannot repair the terminal window itself.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)

“Using a SOCKS proxy in a browser, I can access the site without issues. Using the same proxy in the terminal, I still can't log in.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.

  • Only the app you set up is routedBoundary

Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.

Windows VPS & RoutingSolves

MetaTrader will not connect from the home network or SIM while the web, ping and other networks work

“It has to be my router or ISP blocking it. My phone won't connect either but when I switch it to use cell data it connects with no problem.”

How our system handles it. Your platform connects to our server through its built-in proxy setting, and our server opens the broker connection from inside the datacenter.

  • Built-in SOCKS5 loginPrimary
  • Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
  • City switchingSupporting

Where it stops. Only if the fault is on the route to your broker, and only if your network lets you reach our server. We can't tell in advance, so try it before paying. It is not a way around a block you are not allowed to cross.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

MetaTrader 5 on a Mac with Wine, deprecation and slow indicators

“In the login window, the only server available is "MetaQuotes-Demo". There are no other servers listed.”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy works with any trading platform that has a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy setting.

Where it stops. We have not tested MetaTrader 5 on macOS. Test with the Try plan before relying on it.
