TradingView Desktop proxy setup on Windows
The short answer
To use Traders Proxy with TradingView Desktop on Windows 10 (22H2) or Windows 11, open the three-dot menu, then Settings, then Network. It takes either proxy type, with a login, and needs a relaunch. TradingView doesn’t say which connections use it, so we make no promise about orders.
Where is the proxy setting in TradingView Desktop?
Click the three-dot menu button in the tab bar to open the Main menu. Then choose Settings → Network and tick Use a proxy server.
TradingView added the setting in build 2.6.0, on 6 September 2023. Older builds have no proxy setting, so update the app if the option is missing.
How do you set it up?
Warning. Check TradingView’s and your broker’s terms
If TradingView or your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what either allows.
Set the proxy in TradingView Desktop in five steps
- 01
Get your values
In your dashboard’s Connect section, pick the server nearest you. Then open Your values for your platform, choose the Other tab and copy the server, port, login and password.
TradingView doesn’t say whether orders use the setting, so we make no claim about your broker’s city here.
- 02
Open the Network settings
Click the three-dot menu button in the tab bar. Choose Settings, then Network, and tick Use a proxy server. The setting is inside the app, so your other programs keep your normal internet.
- 03
Type your values
Choose the protocol, then type the address and port. Add your username and password.
- Protocol
SOCKS5orHTTP- Address
The server value from your dashboard- Port
The port from your dashboard- Username
Your Traders Proxy login- Password
Your Traders Proxy password
TradingView doesn’t say whether address and port share one box, so use the fields you see. The login and password are yours from Traders Proxy, not your TradingView or broker login.
- 04
Click Relaunch
Click Relaunch. TradingView restarts and, its help says, connects to the proxy if the fields are correct.
To switch the proxy off, untick Use a proxy server and click Relaunch again.
- 05
Check your dashboard
Open a chart and check that live prices arrive. Then open your dashboard, which shows your connected devices, live.
TradingView has no test button and no indicator that proves the proxy is in use. If no device appears, the app isn’t using the proxy. Close your other apps that use Traders Proxy first, or the check proves nothing.
Which proxy type should you choose?
Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever you prefer. TradingView lists both, and Traders Proxy supports both. TradingView gives no reason to prefer one, so we don’t either. Use the port your dashboard gives for the type you pick.
What does the proxy setting cover?
- Documented. The setting belongs to TradingView Desktop, separate from your other applications.
- Not stated. Whether chart and price data, alerts, chat, sign-in and updates use it.
- Not stated. Whether orders sent to a broker use it. TradingView says it acts as an interface to brokers and doesn’t process your trades.
- Not tested by us. Pages that open in your default browser. TradingView says some do, and we expect them to use the browser’s own settings.
On TradingView, we promise only that the app can connect through us.
The setting lives inside the app, so your other programs keep their normal connection. What you get is one plan that covers TradingView Desktop and your trading platform.
TradingView doesn’t say whether the proxy covers its connection to your broker. So we don’t say your broker sees a Traders Proxy address for TradingView orders.
We make no promise about orders, prices or the city of your broker’s server on TradingView.
Ping is the time data takes to go there and back. We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.
Which Windows versions does it run on?
- Windows 10. Version 22H2, 64-bit Intel or AMD.
- Windows 11. Version 22H2 or newer, 64-bit Intel or AMD.
- Windows on ARM. Not supported.
- Installer. App Installer is required, and the download is an MSIX package. If Windows 11 shows error 0x800B010A, update App Installer. That is an install fault, not a proxy fault.
- IPv6. Not supported by the app. Traders Proxy uses IPv4 only, so the two don’t conflict. TradingView doesn’t say what happens on a network that is IPv6 only.
What about the browser version and phones?
- Browser, TradingView documents no proxy setting for the browser version. A browser or system proxy would send more than the TradingView tab through us, so we don’t support that.
- Phones, TradingView documents no proxy setting in its phone apps, and we found none. Our tested Android setup covers MetaTrader only, and iPhone is untested.

Frequently asked questions
Which proxy types does TradingView Desktop accept?
Both HTTP and SOCKS5. TradingView’s help says they are currently supported, and that you can add a username and password if needed.
Is the setup different on Windows 11?
No. TradingView gives one path for the desktop app and none per Windows version. A guide that says App Settings → Network → Proxy has the wrong path.
Will my broker’s orders go through the proxy?
TradingView says it acts as an interface to brokers. It doesn’t say whether the proxy covers that connection, so we make no claim for orders.
The chart says the connection was closed. Is that the proxy?
Check your plan’s connection limit first. TradingView says this error means the limit was reached, and one open chart page counts as one connection.
Can I set a proxy for TradingView on my phone?
TradingView documents no proxy setting in its phone apps, and we haven’t tested one. A phone-wide proxy would send more than TradingView through us, so we don’t suggest one.
Will a proxy change my ping or prevent disconnects?
Drops can start at your broker or on your own internet, and ping is mostly distance. For TradingView we claim no change.

Generic or free proxies fail MetaTrader's proxy Test button
“I keep getting the message "Proxy test failed" no matter what proxy settings I try to set.”
How our system handles it. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your platform offers. Enter our server, login and password in MetaTrader’s own Proxy window.

SOCKS5loginPrimary - Built-in
HTTPproxy loginSupporting
Where it stops. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support SOCKS5 and HTTP (not SOCKS4). A passing Test confirms the route reaches our server.
MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer
“that proxy setting is working on MT4, so the problem is from MT5 not proxy”
How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary
Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)
“It seems that WebRequest ignores proxy configuration, event if configured both on MT5 and operating system.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.
cTrader picks a far or 'wrong' Spotware proxy and the trader cannot choose (Sydney-3, Netherlands, Jakarta-2, London-6 from Korea)
“The Connection settings allow configuring a proxy server. Select Use proxy to connect to enable the proxy connection settings.”
Why a proxy can backfire here. cTrader for Windows has a proxy setting and Traders Proxy supports it over HTTP. cTrader still chooses its own servers.
- Built-in
HTTPproxy loginBoundary
Where it stops. In cTrader on Windows, the Connection proxy setting routes your connection to Spotware’s cloud. Spotware still picks its own cloud node on the far side.
