MT4 proxy setup on Android
The short answer
MetaTrader 4 (MT4) for Android has no proxy setting that we found. Instead, set your values in a proxy app such as AdGuard, and choose only MT4 to go through it. Your phone counts as one of your plan’s devices.
MetaTrader 4 on your phone can use our server, through a proxy app.
Not by itself. We found no proxy setting in the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) phone app, and MetaQuotes documents none.
What we tested is an Android app, such as AdGuard, that sends chosen apps through a proxy. Choose only MT4, so your other apps keep your normal internet. We tested it on 25 September 2026, on MT4 and MetaTrader 5 (MT5).
How do you set it up with AdGuard?
Warning. Check your broker’s terms
If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.
Send only MT4 through the proxy
- 01
Get your values
In your dashboard’s Connect section, pick the server nearest you and your broker’s city. Then open Your values for your platform, choose the Other tab and copy the server, port, login and password.
The login and password are your Traders Proxy ones, not your broker’s.
- 02
Open AdGuard’s proxy settings
In AdGuard, open Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy. AdGuard holds the proxy, because MT4 has no setting of its own.
- 03
Add your proxy server
Choose Proxy server, then Add proxy server. Enter the values, then tap Save and select.
- Proxy type
SOCKS5orHTTP- Proxy host
The server value from your dashboard- Proxy port
The port from your dashboard- Username
Your Traders Proxy login- Password
Your Traders Proxy password
- 04
Turn the proxy on
Switch on the main Proxy switch. Then switch on AdGuard protection, because AdGuard sends apps through the proxy only while it is on.
- 05
Choose only MT4
Select MT4 as the only app that uses the proxy. AdGuard calls this control Apps operating through proxy. It also describes Route traffic through AdGuard in App management.
AdGuard’s help warns that an app you haven’t selected may skip the proxy, so check that MT4 is on the list. Leave other apps off, so they don’t use your plan’s data.
- 06
Open MT4
Open MT4, connect to your broker and check that prices move.
MT4 shows no proxy setting of its own, so the next section is the real check.
Check that it worked before you trade on it.
Open your dashboard while MT4 is connected. It shows your connected devices, live, and your phone should be among them.
Don’t check your address in a browser. With only MT4 selected, the browser doesn’t use the proxy, so it shows your normal address.
On your phone, our server recovers lost data inside your broker’s city.
An order from your phone crosses the internet in small pieces of data. If one drops, your chart and next order wait while your phone recovers it. The farther you are from your broker, the longer each wait.
Traders Proxy puts a server between MT4 and your broker. MT4 connects to our server through AdGuard, and our server in your broker’s city opens a separate local connection to your broker.
If data drops on that local link, our server recovers it inside your broker’s city. Trading ports go first when a server is busy, and broker addresses stay warm in memory.
Your broker sees one steady address, our server’s, shared with other Traders Proxy customers. It stays the same when your phone moves between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
It changes if you change your broker’s city or a server is replaced. If our server in your broker’s city is unreachable, MT4 shows an error and your dashboard asks before using another city.
Ping is the time data takes to go there and back. We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.
Our part helps only on the connection between our server and your broker. It doesn’t shorten the distance or change your phone’s connection to our server, which stays your own network. If your signal is weak, we can’t make it stronger.
What are the limits of this method?
- It works for MT4 and MT5 on Android only. We haven’t tested iPhone or the cTrader phone app, so we give no steps for them.
- We give steps for AdGuard only and haven’t tested other proxy apps.
- AdGuard is a separate app from a separate company. Its help doesn’t say what its proxy feature costs, so check before you install.

Frequently asked questions
Does MT4 for Android have its own proxy setting?
None that we found, and MetaQuotes documents none for the phone app. An app such as AdGuard can send MT4 through the proxy instead.
Will AdGuard send all my apps through the proxy?
Only the apps you select. Choose only MT4, and your browser and other apps don’t use the proxy.
Can I use Traders Proxy on my phone and my computer?
Yes. Your phone counts as one of your plan’s devices. The plans page shows how many devices each plan includes.
Does this work on an iPhone?
We tested this on Android only. iPhone is untested, so we give no steps.
Can Traders Proxy see my broker login?
No. We never record what’s in your trading traffic, and we never decrypt it. Whatever encryption MT4 uses stays intact from your phone to your broker.
Will my broker mind?
Check your broker’s terms. If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.

A firewall, router or ISP drops the platform's broker connection but lets ordinary web traffic through
“The MT5 trading server mt5.metaquotes.net runs on port 1950. We have closed all the "left" ports at our company, including port 1950.”
How our system handles it. Your platform connects to our server through its built-in SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy setting, and our server opens the broker connection from inside the datacenter.

Where it stops. Works only if your network still lets you reach our server. We cannot repair a faulty home router or an ISP outage.
The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)
“Enable proxy server — allow the use of a proxy server when connecting to the trade server.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.
MetaTrader 5 will not use a proxy running on the same computer
“that proxy setting is working on MT4, so the problem is from MT5 not proxy”
How our system handles it. You don't need a tunnel app on your computer. Your platform connects to our server through its own Proxy setting.
- Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary
Where it stops. Your platform connects through its built-in Proxy window, with no extra app to install. Some MetaTrader 5 builds have separate proxy-window bugs.
cTrader behind an office, school or corporate network (the case the proxy setting was made for)
“I've tried, and it seems that only HTTP proxies can connect.”
What our system reduces. cTrader for Windows has a proxy setting and Traders Proxy supports it over HTTP.
- Built-in

Where it stops. cTrader for Windows supports an HTTP proxy login in Settings > Connection. Your local network must still allow the connection to our server.
