MT5 proxy on Android
The short answer
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) for Android has no proxy setting that MetaQuotes documents. Instead, use an Android app such as AdGuard that sends chosen apps through a proxy, and choose only MT5. MetaTrader 4 (MT4) works the same way, and iPhone is untested.
MetaTrader 5 on Android has no proxy setting, so you need a proxy app.
MetaQuotes documents none, and we found none in the app or on its Android settings page.
What we tested is an Android app that sends chosen apps through a proxy. We tested it on 25 September 2026 on MetaTrader 5 (MT5) and MetaTrader 4 (MT4), with AdGuard and only the trading app chosen. We haven’t tested any other proxy app.
What do you need before you start?
- MT5 or MT4 on your Android phone, already connecting to your broker. Then any later problem is in the proxy app.
- Your Traders Proxy dashboard, with the server nearest you and your broker’s city picked under Connect.
- An Android app that can send chosen apps through a proxy. We tested AdGuard.
How do you set MT5 up with AdGuard?
Warning. Check your broker’s terms
If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.
MT5 on Android with AdGuard in seven steps
- 01
Copy your values
In your dashboard, open Your values for your platform and choose the Other tab. Copy the server, port, login and password rather than typing them, because one wrong character stops MT5 connecting.
The login and password are your Traders Proxy ones, not your broker’s.
- 02
Install AdGuard
Install AdGuard for Android and open it. AdGuard holds the proxy, because MT5 has no setting of its own.
AdGuard is a separate app from a separate company. Its own version comparison doesn’t mention the proxy feature, so check the price on AdGuard’s licence page first.
- 03
Open the proxy settings
In AdGuard, open Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy.
- 04
Add your proxy server
Choose Proxy server, then Add proxy server. Choose
SOCKS5, enter your values, then tap Save and select.Traders Proxy also supports
HTTP. It doesn’t supportSOCKS4. - 05
Turn the proxy on
Switch on the main Proxy switch, and make sure AdGuard protection is on. AdGuard sends apps through the proxy only while it is on.
- 06
Choose only MT5
Open App management, pick MetaTrader 5, and turn on Route traffic through AdGuard. Choose no other app, so the rest of your phone keeps your normal internet.
AdGuard’s help says an app that isn’t switched on there may skip the proxy, so check that MT5 is on.
- 07
Open MT5 and check
Open MT5, connect to your broker and check that prices move.
Your dashboard lists your connected devices, live, so your phone should appear there. A browser won’t show the proxy’s address, because only MT5 goes through it.
What is tested, and what is not?
- Tested on 25 September 2026. MT5 and MT4 on Android through AdGuard, with only the trading app chosen. The MT4 steps are on MT4 on Android.
- Untested. Another Android proxy app, and MT4 or MT5 on iPhone or iPad. We give no steps for them.
- Unknown. What AdGuard’s proxy feature costs. Its own version comparison doesn’t mention it.
- Not supported. A browser or web terminal. A browser or system proxy would send more than your trading tab through us.
On your phone, our server recovers lost data inside your broker’s city.
Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet, so your other apps don’t use your plan’s data.
An order from your phone crosses the internet in small pieces of data. If one drops, your chart and next order wait while your phone recovers it. The farther you are from your broker, the longer each wait.
Traders Proxy puts a server between MT5 and your broker. MT5 connects to our server through AdGuard, and our server in your broker’s city opens a separate local connection to your broker.
If data drops on that local link, our server recovers it inside your broker’s city. Trading ports go first when a server is busy, and broker addresses stay warm in memory.
Ping is the time data takes to go there and back. We don’t promise lower ping. Distance sets the minimum. No proxy can move your broker closer.
Our part helps only on the connection between our server and your broker. It doesn’t shorten the distance or change your phone’s connection to our server, which stays your own network. If your signal is weak, we can’t make it stronger.

Frequently asked questions
What does AdGuard cost?
We don’t know. AdGuard’s own version comparison doesn’t mention its proxy feature, so check its licence page before you rely on it.
Will the proxy cover all my apps?
No, not if you choose only MT5 in AdGuard’s App management. Everything else on your phone stays on your normal internet.
Can I use a different proxy app?
We have tested only AdGuard, so any other app is untested.
Does it work on iPhone?
iPhone is untested, so we give no steps.
Does my phone count as a device?
Yes. Count your phone as one of your plan’s devices.
Will my broker mind?
Check your broker’s terms. If your broker prohibits proxies, don’t use one. Traders Proxy doesn’t change what your broker allows.

A firewall, router or ISP drops the platform's broker connection but lets ordinary web traffic through
“i get the same issue on another system on the same internet connection (wifi vs cabel). however, if i switch the isp (troubleshooting with mobile data actually) it seems to connect”
How our system handles it. Your platform connects to our server through its built-in SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy setting, and our server opens the broker connection from inside the datacenter.
- Built-in
SOCKS5loginPrimary - Own separate connection to your brokerPrimary
- Unanswered broker server gives up fast and reportsSupporting
Where it stops. Works only if your network still lets you reach our server. We cannot repair a faulty home router or an ISP outage.
The platform's proxy setting does not cover everything (WebRequest, MQL5.community, Market)
“Using a SOCKS proxy in a browser, I can access the site without issues. Using the same proxy in the terminal, I still can't log in.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Everything else stays on your normal internet.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. Only the trading app you set up uses Traders Proxy. Expert Advisor web calls, custom DLLs and Market downloads may still use your normal internet.
When a provider or country blocks the direct route to cTrader
“This occurs because some countries block cTrader downloads. To solve this problem, use a VPN connection. This is the only known way to proceed with the download.”
What our system reduces. If your provider blocks the route to your platform's servers, you can send your platform through a Traders Proxy server instead. It works only if your provider lets you reach us.
- Built-in
HTTPproxy loginPrimary
Where it stops. Works only if your network lets you reach our server. cTrader on Windows uses an HTTP proxy setting and does not route the installer through it.
'Ping failed' and drops with disconnects every few minutes, re-login loops and dropped sessions
“hey guys,..do you have any ideas why my MT4 often disconected in a several minute or sometime ping failed reported on journal tab. By the way my internet connection doesn,t have any problem or it's always connected.”
What our system reduces. If your device drops off, our server notices quickly and frees its place, so your platform can reconnect instead of hanging.
- Dead connections found and freedPrimary
- Straight back in after a dropPrimary
- Reconnect surges admitted in a steady streamSupporting
- Own separate connection to your brokerSupporting
Where it stops. We do not prevent internet drops or fix broker faults. After a disconnect, your platform logs in again, so always use broker-side stop-loss orders.
