MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) mobile proxy Android setup
The short answer
On Android, MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) connect to Traders Proxy through a proxy utility such as AdGuard. The setup routes only your mobile trading platform through our server, keeping background phone data on your direct cellular connection. Other mobile trading apps remain untested.
Android proxy compatibility for MetaTrader and phone apps
The MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) desktop terminals include a built-in proxy setting under Tools → Options → Server. Their mobile apps do not document an in-app proxy configuration. Routing mobile MetaTrader traffic requires a separate proxy utility on your device.
The table below details our tested configurations. Review it before you travel.
| Phone and app | Status | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| MT5 on Android | Tested by us on 25 September 2026 | Through a proxy app such as AdGuard, with only MT5 selected. See MT5 on Android. |
| MT4 on Android | Tested by us on 25 September 2026 | Through a proxy app such as AdGuard, with only MT4 selected. See MT4 on Android. |
| Telegram on mobile | Documented by Telegram | A one-tap link on every plan. Telegram’s own proxy type is on the 2-device plan, the 5-device plan and Founder 50. It covers Telegram only, see Telegram setup. |
| MT4 or MT5 on Apple phones | Untested | We give no steps and make no claim for Apple phones or tablets. |
| cTrader or TradingView phone apps | Untested | Neither vendor documents an in-app proxy setting, and we have not tested a way to connect them on a phone. |
Six steps to route only your trading app on Android
Six steps with AdGuard for Android
- 01
Copy your values from the dashboard
In your Traders Proxy dashboard, pick your broker city. Then open Your values and copy the Server, Port, Login and Password.
- 02
Open AdGuard’s proxy screen
In AdGuard for Android, navigate to Settings → Filtering → Network → Proxy. This screen controls outbound application routing.
- 03
Add your Traders Proxy server
Tap Proxy server, then Add proxy server. Choose
HTTPorSOCKS5, enter the Server, Port, Login and Password from your dashboard, and save. This tells AdGuard where our server is and how to sign in to it. - 04
Select only MT4 or MT5
In Apps operating through proxy, leave only MT4 or MT5 selected so your browser and other apps stay on your normal connection. Your plan’s data then goes on trading.
- 05
Switch on the proxy and open your terminal
Turn on the proxy switch in AdGuard, then open MT4 or MT5 and sign in to your broker account. Your terminal now connects through our server.
- 06
Verify in your Traders Proxy dashboard
Check the connected devices counter in your Traders Proxy dashboard while your terminal runs. When your device appears, your platform is routing through our server. Do not test in a web browser because browser traffic remains direct.
Your phone counts as a device, so pick a plan with room for it
Count your phone as one of your plan devices. Trading concurrently on a desktop computer and a mobile phone on separate networks requires a plan with at least 2 devices.
Telegram one-tap links are included on every plan, and Telegram’s own proxy type comes with the 2-device plan and up. On the 1-device plan, mobile Telegram on another network uses your only device slot. Our plans detail device allowances across each tier.
Our server in your broker’s city recovers lost data and clears dropped mobile links fast
Pick your broker’s city in your dashboard. Our server there opens its own connection to your broker and recovers lost data inside that city. Trading ports go first when our server is busy.
When packets drop near your broker, retransmissions resolve across a short local datacenter hop rather than back to your mobile cellular tower.
If your phone drops, our server notices the dead connection quickly and frees its place. From the same network, your phone can reconnect straight away.
Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data puts your phone on a new network. It then reconnects as a new device. On a 1-device plan, the old connection can briefly block it until it clears.
We can’t make a weak signal stronger. Your phone still reaches our server over your own mobile data or Wi-Fi, so find better coverage first.
Ping measures physical round-trip transit time, so we never promise lower latency. Distance sets an absolute physical floor. If your broker prohibits proxies, do not use one.
Frequently asked questions
Does Traders Proxy work on Apple phones?
Apple phones and tablets are untested for MT4 and MT5. We publish no steps for them and make no claim that they work.
Does AdGuard require a licence for the proxy setting?
AdGuard is a third-party application developed independently. Its documentation covers outbound proxy configuration and application filters. Review their licensing terms directly before installation.
Does my phone count toward my plan’s device limit?
Yes. Count your phone as one of your plan’s devices.
Why shouldn’t I check my IP address in my phone’s browser?
When you select only MT4 or MT5 in AdGuard, your browser stays on your normal mobile or Wi-Fi connection. Check the live device count in your Traders Proxy dashboard instead.
What happens to my open trades if my phone loses signal?
In MT4 and MT5, stop-loss and take-profit orders sit on your broker’s trade server. They stay in place while your phone is offline. You cannot change or close orders from the phone until it reconnects.

'Ping failed' and drops with disconnects every few minutes, re-login loops and dropped sessions
“Is the chart freezing, or is it the terminal? If it is the terminal, then it is likely a broken indicator.”
What our system reduces. If your device drops off, our server notices quickly and frees its place, so your platform can reconnect instead of hanging.
- Dead connections found and freedPrimary
- Straight back in after a dropPrimary
- Reconnect surges admitted in a steady streamSupporting
- Own separate connection to your brokerSupporting
Where it stops. We do not prevent internet drops or fix broker faults. After a disconnect, your platform logs in again, so always use broker-side stop-loss orders.
MetaTrader's own proxy setting fails on some builds or setups
“This version cannot connect to the proxy server. Once it is turned on in the settings, it cannot receive the market information. The market information will be normal after it is closed. Other software can connect normally using the same proxy settings, only MT5 cannot.”
Why a proxy can backfire here. Use SOCKS5 or HTTP, whichever your platform offers.

Where it stops. Use the platform's own Test button. If it fails, the fault is in the platform's proxy support. Not SOCKS4. IPv4 only.
High server delay, slow price feed or slow fills in cTrader
“The total time a message needs to travel from your application to our servers is the Server latency. Therefore this is the number you should consider.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy doesn't change your broker's prices, fills or spreads, and it doesn't promise lower ping.
Where it stops. We do not change cTrader server delay, tick frequency or fills. In cTrader, our server connects onward to Spotware’s cloud node.
Installer 'Proxy Server' popup and MQL5.community 403 on a VPS or datacentre address
“Using a SOCKS proxy in a browser, I can access the site without issues. Using the same proxy in the terminal, I still can't log in.”
Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy carries your platform's trade-server connection. We don't promise it fixes installer downloads or MQL5.community sign-in.
- Only the app you set up is routedBoundary
Where it stops. The platform proxy setting applies after MetaTrader is installed. If the installer download is blocked, download the installer another way first.
