Commodities proxy for MT4 and MT5

The short answer

A commodities proxy routes gold and oil CFDs through your broker’s financial hub on MetaTrader 4 and 5. When inventory releases drop packets, our server recovers lost data locally in that city. Price feeds stream smoothly so orders reach your broker without delays.

One setting covers gold, oil and agricultural contracts

In MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5), the proxy setting sits under Tools → Options → Server. It routes terminal connections directly to your broker trade server. Configuring it once applies across every commodity symbol.

Only your trading platform uses Traders Proxy, leaving general browsing on your standard connection. Each platform maker determines which background requests follow proxy settings.

Brokers assign unique symbol names and active trading hours to each commodity. Check symbol specifications in Market Watch to confirm active market sessions before trading.

Local packet recovery protects orders during inventory releases

Trading platforms transmit orders and price streams as small data packets. If network congestion drops a packet, subsequent data waits in line until that piece resends.

During inventory reports like EIA crude oil figures or USDA WASDE forecasts, volume surges. Standard retransmission delays can hold up price updates while candles advance.

Our server in your broker city prioritises trading ports and maintains warm connections. When packets drop near your broker, our server retransmits them locally within that city.

Local recovery protects the segment between our server and your broker. Packets dropped between your desk and our server recover on that first leg.

A proxy does not alter broker spreads or market price gaps. Physical distance sets the floor for ping, and we do not promise lower latency.

Sourced commodity release schedule for key trading sessions

Publishers schedule major commodity announcements in advance so traders can prepare. The times below reflect published agency release schedules.

ET indicates US Eastern time. Convert published times to your local time zone as daylight saving dates shift internationally.

Geopolitical events and unexpected pipeline disruptions occur outside published calendars. Configure your platform settings during calm periods to prepare for unannounced market moves.

Gold spreads widen around major economic news releases

Gold trades under symbols like XAUUSD, sharing the terminal proxy configuration. The table outlines US macroeconomic announcements, Fed rate decisions and London gold auctions.

Brokers adjust spreads dynamically around high impact news releases. Expect wider spreads during these windows with or without a proxy in place.

The weekly EIA oil report brings secondary volatility

The EIA weekly petroleum report lands on Wednesdays after 10.30 am US Eastern. The US stock market opens at 9.30 am, creating two distinct volatility windows on Wednesday mornings.

Crude oil symbols carry independent trading hours and contract terms. Check Market Watch specifications for WTI and Brent contracts. Natural gas follows with its own EIA inventory report on Thursdays.

Commodity CFDs linked to underlying futures roll over when contracts near expiration. Your broker may adjust balances when migrating positions to the new month, which no proxy can alter.

Silver, natural gas and grains share the same proxy route

All commodity contracts use the single terminal proxy setting. The monthly USDA WASDE agricultural report publishes at 12.00 noon US Eastern, triggering sharp volume in grain contracts.

Configure settings before volatility and compare results

  1. Set up the proxy during a quiet session to prevent configuration mistakes during fast releases.
  2. Review contract hours in Market Watch under Specification to confirm active session times.
  3. Time platform connection and quote updates with the proxy off and then on, recording both numbers.
  4. Run two demo terminals side by side during an inventory release to evaluate real world tick stability.

If performance is identical both ways, you do not need us. You can cancel renewal in your dashboard at any time and retain access until your billing period ends.

If your platform can’t connect through us and support can’t fix it, we refund your first payment. That applies within 7 days on a monthly plan, or 14 days on a yearly plan. This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Read our refund policy for full details. If your broker prohibits proxies, do not use one.

Common questions about commodity proxies

Frequently asked questions

Do all commodity CFDs share the same proxy setting?

Yes. MetaTrader uses one terminal proxy setting across all instruments. Individual broker specifications and contract trading hours still differ by symbol.

Does a proxy help at the EIA report?

No. A proxy changes where lost packets are retransmitted between our server and your broker. It does not alter news data, broker spreads or fill prices.

Is the USDA WASDE report published at 12.00 UTC?

No. WASDE publishes at 12.00 noon US Eastern time. Corresponding UTC release times shift when international clocks change for daylight saving.

Does the EIA oil report coincide with the US stock open?

No. The weekly petroleum report publishes after 10.30 am US Eastern on Wednesdays, at least one hour after the 9.30 am equity market open.

Is a VPS required for gold or oil trading?

A VPS is necessary only if automated trading algorithms must run while your computer is powered off. For manual trading, a proxy is the simpler setup.

Will my broker permit proxy connections for commodities?

Review your broker client terms. If your broker prohibits proxies, do not use one. Traders Proxy does not alter broker trading policies.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Reduces one factor

'Ping failed' and drops with disconnects every few minutes, re-login loops and dropped sessions

“hey guys,..do you have any ideas why my MT4 often disconected in a several minute or sometime ping failed reported on journal tab. By the way my internet connection doesn,t have any problem or it's always connected.”

What our system reduces. If your device drops off, our server notices quickly and frees its place, so your platform can reconnect instead of hanging.

  • Dead connections found and freedPrimary
  • Straight back in after a dropPrimary
  • Reconnect surges admitted in a steady streamSupporting
  • Own separate connection to your brokerSupporting

Where it stops. We do not prevent internet drops or fix broker faults. After a disconnect, your platform logs in again, so always use broker-side stop-loss orders.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

Installer 'Proxy Server' popup and MQL5.community 403 on a VPS or datacentre address

“Zomro provider with subnets has been blocked more than 4 years ago”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy carries your platform's trade-server connection. We don't promise it fixes installer downloads or MQL5.community sign-in.

  • Only the app you set up is routedBoundary

Where it stops. The platform proxy setting applies after MetaTrader is installed. If the installer download is blocked, download the installer another way first.

MetaTrader 4 & 5Not a proxy problem

'Trade context is busy' (error 146), including on manual trades

“146 ERR_TRADE_CONTEXT_BUSY Trade context is busy”

Why a proxy does not change this. Traders Proxy doesn't change how MetaTrader handles its trade requests.

Where it stops. Trade context is busy is MetaTrader’s own local lock when two scripts place orders at once. A proxy does not change it.

Windows VPS & RoutingNot a proxy problem

Campus or institution blocks every VPN and proxy as well as trading

“All proxy servers, Tor, vpn services all are blocked. I can't even open gaming forums and torrent sites. Some dns are blocked too.”

Why a proxy does not change this. No claim. We don't promise to work on networks that block proxies and VPNs.

Where it stops. Some networks block all proxies. If yours does, we won't get through.
